Buying New or Old Real Estate?

Whether is it you are buying a brand new property like Piermont Grand EC in Singapore, or an older one bought over from an existing owner like this farmhouse in Arizona, you need to understand that there are many factors to determine which is the better choice.

First, where are you located at?

A home with strong heritage may keep its value much better than a brand new cookie cutter house.

However, in major cities, lots of homes are leasehold, and the value of the property drops as it ages.

So be sure to understand that it really depends on the area that you live, how well your local real estate market is doing. Also take note if architectural buildings in your area have significant historical importance, as this may play a part in the future value of your house.

Secondly, are you buying as an investment?

Brand new homes are way more advantageous when it comes to being an investment property. Most of the time, you will have some from of warranty against defects form the developer, so you don’t really have to spend much on repairs and maintenance on the get go. Older homes tend to have much more problems especially if they are heritage homes. You may not even be able to do certain alteration or additions to the home if it is a heritage home. And also homes tend to need lots of constant repairs, such as leaking roofs, peeling paint, loose windows and blown lightbulbs.

Thirdly, what is your budget?

Brand new homes, just like cars, tend to be more expensive than comparable homes in the area just because they are brand new. You get to be the first owner of the property. However, this usually comes at a slightly premium price. If you do not like the feeling of staying in someone else’s previous home, then you may want to consider raising your budget to get yourself a home that is newly built. But do remember than you can always do a complete home makeover on an older house, and remove any form of the personality of the previous family who stayed there.

Staying Healthy as You Age

Why We Should Stay Healthy As We Age

As we move past our 20s, we have actually lived past our prime age, and we are by right  “weakening” physically every day. Although we don’t really feel it as the changes are way too small to be observed on a daily basis. But this doesn’t mean that we should take this for granted. At any age after our prime years, we need to take more care of our body, to stay strong and healthy, physically and mentally.

We all know that keeping physically fit really consists of exercise and diet. Let’s talk about how to stay fit mentally. Our brain has many jobs and purposes, and one of them is to control and move our body. A huge portion of our brain is dedicated just for that. To be able to constantly learn and pick up new skills, we need to stimulate our brain by keeping active and exercising.

According to a research published on the Harvard Medical School, exercising helps to boost your memory and thinking skills. Staying active also helps to improve on our cardio, and minimises the chances of getting cardiovascular diseases. It can help to keep your in good shape, fight off diabetes and depression, and keep your bones and joints strong. And if you exercise out in the day, you also get some sun exposure, which is a good way to get some vitamin D into your body.

Most important of all, staying active one of the best ways to always keep your body strong enough and not lose mobility, such as joint pains, hunched back and so forth.

How if your  flexibility?

Do this simple test right now. Stand up and keep your legs straight, then touch your toes. Are you able to do this? Majority of people are actually not able to do this, and it gets harder if you don’t do stretching exercises. Most of us that are working spend hours and hours a day sitting in the office, with our shoulders hunched forward, and our head tilted down all day.

It is therefore crucial that we engage in some exercises whenever we have the time. Some activities you could do are stretching, walking, jogging, swimming and more. Just try not to do exercises that are high impact. The ultimate goal is to be able to keep consistent with staying active as we age.

My Introduction

Hey guys, my name is Colby.

Life is great! But it wasn’t like this from the start.

Let me share my story with you, where I hope you can learn some lessons along the way.

I was always chasing money. I believed that money was everything. I believed that money could solve all my problems, and give me unlimited happiness.

So i worked towards that goal, real hard. Everyday, I would wake up early in the morning and grind on my work. I would seek business opportunities, and take up as many projects I could without considering my capabilities. I really wanted to dominate in everything I do, and be a master of money.

Don’t get me wrong. I still find money very important till today. Money can really help to solve lots of problems. But money is nothing if you do not respect the power of it.

I will be updating more on this blog about my thoughts and concepts on living a truly happy life, where I’m able to spend quality time with my family, enjoy what I do, make money and stay happy.
